Discovery Hike Series

Forest Park comes alive with birds and their chorus of songs each spring. This is the prime time for migration so you never know what may be flying through.  This hike will help you identify some of the birds found of Forest Park by song or sight. Join naturalist Amanda Darlak for this unique opportunity to learn more about the birds of Forest Park. This hike is appropriate for those age 10 & up.

Cost: Free

Pre-registration is required, as enrollment will be limited to 12 participants, with space filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Click here to reserve your spot on this and other Discovery hikes.

Hike Leader Biography: Amanda Darlak has been a field ornithologist for several years and has a masters degree in Environmental Education. She recently completed another masters degree to teach high school biology this spring. Overheard...

What helps identfify Portland is its parks. More than anything else, it's Forest Park...it establishes the geography of the city and it ties us to our history of settlement. It shaped the city, and it still shapes the city's personality"

- Chet Orloff, historian and chair of Portland Parks and Recreation Board
