World Forestry Center Photo Exhibit

Description of Bruce Macgregor's photo exhibit at the World Forestry Center, summer of 2009.

The Forest Park Conservancy presents: A Year in a Long Life of Forest Park

Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Forest Park through a series of photographs on exhibit at the World Forestry Center.

Location: World Forestry Center, Portland, OR

Dates: July 12 – September 25

A viewing of the exhibit will evoke the sights, sounds, and smells encountered on an excursion into Forest Park with its 5400 acres traversed by over 70 miles of trail. One such trail, the Wildwood Trail, begins just 600 feet from the World Forestry Center and traverses the park for over 30 miles, guiding the traveler to the far north wildlands of this unique urban wilderness. The images reflect the importance of Forest Park’s healthy ecosystem as a source for clean water and air, natural beauty, recreation and respite; wildlife conservation; and an enhanced quality of life for Portland’s residents. The photographs will take you along the trail of the story Forest Park has to tell: its history, its beauty, its struggles for survival. You will learn what each of us can do to ensure that future generations can still appreciate Forest Park’s ancient trees, trilliums, pileated woodpeckers and majestic elk herd, to name only a very few of its natural and wildlife treasures.
