With over 80 miles of trails in Forest Park, we ne

With over 80 miles of trails in Forest Park, we need the help of volunteers to monitor the trails. This is especially true during the winter season, when ice and snow can break branches and down trees. In order to monitor trail conditions, our Rapid Response program organizes volunteers who hike the trails after climactic weather events and report back to us on what they see.

If you'd like to join this team of volunteers, we are holding a training for new rapid responders this Saturday. Check out the Linktree in our bio to sign up today.

Wanna know what's really scary? Trail erosion! Our annual ranking season begins on the morning of Halloween day (this Thursday). It's an important part of our annual maintenance efforts as, without raking, fallen leaves will collect water on the trails. This leads not only to trail erosion but slippery and dangerous conditions for runners and hikers.

You all crushed it! There's over a month left in the Nasty Challenge, but we have already exceeded our $5,000 fundraising goal! The outpouring of excitement and positivity for the challenge has been incredible, and we hope you have been enjoying this opportunity to explore the trails!

For the rest of the challenge, we have upped our donation goal to $6,500. We are also still doing weekly giveaways for random challenge participants who conduct a run during that week!

No Ivy Day is only two days away! We need your help to keep our parks free from ivy. English ivy is an invasive plant that chokes out native trees and dominates the forest floor, destroying local ecosystems. With your help, we can mitigate the spread of ivy!

This year, we are partnering with @portlandparks for their annual No Ivy Day by hosting events in Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park. After the work party, we will be hosting a free lunch and raffle giveaway for our No Ivy Day volunteers, so you won't want to miss out!
