DESCRIPTION:Forest Park Conservancy is partnering with Thomas’® Breads – makers of the iconic Thomas’ English Muffins known for their signature “Nooks & Crannies” texture – to make an impact and give back to the local community on National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 25th at 9 a.m. \nAn active supporter of environmental sustainability, Thomas’ is seeking 70 volunteers to tackle a major invasive species restoration project in Forest Park. Thomas’, the exclusive National Public Lands Day Sponsor for Forest Park Conservancy, will give some love to the adventures of this special place and to the trails that have sustained the community during these critical times. \nDuring this stewardship event, volunteers will be supporting the Forest Park Conservancy’s Restoration Program, managing invasive species off Dogwood, Wild Cherry, and potentially Alder Trail. This work helps to maintain and improve the ecological health of the forest by supporting diversity, environmental integrity, connectivity, and complexity.\nAll volunteers who participate in the event will be invited to gather after the event (12 p.m.) at Wallace Park for a complimentary meal to remember featuring Thomas’ favorites like English Muffins and Bagels. Participants will also receive a branded t-shirt commemorating the effort.  \nSign up now to save your spot!\nWhen: Saturday, September 25th, 9am to 12pm.\nWhat:  Managing invasive species and various trail work projects.\nWhere: The location will be emailed to all participants the week of volunteering. Parking is limited. Carpooling encouraged!\nHow to be prepared:\nPack plenty of water and dress for all weather conditions. Long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required for your safety.  All training, tools and work gloves will be provided.\nSafety Protocol: All participants must be vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination to participate. Masks are required for participation when within 6ft of another participant. All participants must register for the event.
