We are thrilled to introduce you to our newest intern who comes to us through Portland General Electric’s new program, Project Zero Works.
PGE Project Zero Works provides green job internships for young adults with the objective of establishing a long-term career in the natural resources, clean energy, and environmental services sector.
If you see Justin in Forest Park, please make sure to stop and say hello!
FPC: What brought you to working here at the Forest Park Conservancy?
Justin: Well, I found FPC through a company called Antfarm, which is a local non-profit based out of Sandy, Oregon. They showed me the flyer for the PGE Project Zero Works, and it showed a trails job. I looked into the job, and eventually made my way to the FPC, doing exactly that.
FPC: What will your work focus on while at the Forest Park Conservancy?
Justin: My work will mainly be focused on maintaining the trails within Forest Park.
FPC: Before working at the Forest Park Conservancy, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve had?
Justin: I think the most unusual job I ever had was working at the Barton Antique Mall. It was a lot of fun, but at times just downright weird.
FPC: What is your favorite quote?
Justin: “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid” – Albert Einstein
FPC: What is your personal favorite place in Forest Park? Is there a part of Forest Park that you have heard about that you want to visit?
Justin: So far, my favorite place is the Wildwood Trail. I just love how you can walk forever, and still see new things. One place I would like to visit is the Witches Cottage.
