Please join us in welcoming Wendy Palafox-Arceo to the Forest Park Conservancy team! Wendy is an intern who is a part of PGE’s Project Zero which works to empower young adults and students to create cleaner, greener, and more equitable communities through workforce opportunities in the green jobs sector. We are excited to have her on board.
To help you get to know Wendy, we asked her a few questions:
What brought you to working here at the Forest Park Conservancy?
I am a part of an internship program called “Project Zero” that is run through PGE. They pair you to work with a Portland non-profit and I landed with Forest Park Conservancy! I am very excited to be on board and get to know the wonderful people that work hard to keep Forest Park beautiful and protected!
What will your work focus on while at the Forest Park Conservancy?
While interning here, I will be focusing and working in the communications department. I will be helping with upcoming projects such as interviewing and writing posts for the website, proofreading, and anything along those lines! The projects vary, which is exciting!
Before working at the Forest Park Conservancy, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve had?
I don’t think I have had any unusual jobs, to be honest, but the hardest job I’ve had has been working at the Doc Marten’s Warehouse last summer. It was full time and the shifts started at 6 am! It definitely took a while to get used to it since I am not the best morning person!
What is your favorite quote?
“Success is its own reward, but failure is a great teacher too, and not to be feared.” – Sonia Sotomayor
What is your personal favorite place in Forest Park? Is there a part of Forest Park that you have heard about that you want to visit?
I actually have not had the opportunity to see Forest Park too much! But that will definitely change. I have only had the chance to hike from the NW entrance. A part of Forest Park I want to visit is Pittock Mansion. Hard to believe I am a Portland native and have not visited yet!
