Trail Tip Tuesday

Forest Park ConservancyUncategorized

Trail Tip #1: Please be aware that staff members are leaf blowing and independent volunteers are raking Forest Park for the next few weeks but those trails are currently remaining open. Because we’re not able to host work parties right now, trail users might notice leaf blowers more often than they would in a typical year.

Why clear leaves?
They can hide tripping hazards, make the trail slippery, and they hold water on the trail surface which encourages soil erosion. By clearing leaves from trails, we can prevent having to do more complex and expensive repairs later as a result of that erosion.

Trail Tip #2:
Wildwood Trail
There is bridge damage on Wildwood Trail at mile 10. Proceed with caution. This bridge is about 3/4 of a mile north of the Wildwood/53rd Trailhead and 1 mile south of Firelane 1.

Wildwood Trail from mile 14.2 to 15.4 is closed to address trail conditions. Please follow detour route on Koenig, Leif Erikson, and Cleator Trails.

Have a safe and happy Tuesday everyone!
