Aikido In The Park – August 12th, 2023
This is a sign-up for a martial arts course in Forest Park.
When: Saturday August 12th, 2023 from 8 AM – 9 AM
Where: Lower Macleay Park (Parking is limited, carpooling is encourage!)
What: Learn to connect with nature through the martial art of Aikido
When we are calm and relaxed our senses activate and we connect with nature on a deeper level. Join Duncan Sensei of the Oregon Ki Society on Saturday mornings for exercises in relaxation, natural movement, and staying calm even when stressed. All fitness levels are welcome. Start the day right!
Preparation: Please dress in non-restrictive clothing and wear close-toed shoes. You may wish to bring a little water, too.
We provide: An experienced instructor and plenty of fun!
Activity info: All participants must register for the event, which will be capped at 10 students to ensure plenty of attention to each. Many movement exercises will involve physical contact, but martial exercises will be contactless. All weapons exercises will employ blunt, wooden weapons and physical separation between students.
This activity takes place outdoors in the open air, and though participants often pass each other on the narrow trail, we have lots of room to spread out. With that in mind, masks and vaccination are not required for this activity. However, we require volunteers to stay home when feeling any symptoms of illness (regardless of COVID-19 test result) and fully support participants’ choice to wear a mask if desired.
