Every year, FPC works with local instructors to host a variety of educational opportunities to the public as part of our Nature Education program. The goal of this program is to provide educational experiences to the community in order to help encourage people to come into Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park and connect them with these natural spaces. These events have been a major success, with people joining us every summer for yoga in the park, painting workshops, ivy basket weaving classes, forest bathing classes and more! The strength of our program is the amazing instructors we work with who share their skills with the public.
In order to better serve our community and expand this program, this year we are looking for new instructors to teach new classes! If you have a particular set of skills that you would like to share with the public, particularly ones that are related to our parks, the outdoors, etc., we want to hear from you. We are especially seeking instructors or hike leaders who can engage audiences through storytelling that helps people connect with nature or culturally specific perspectives. Thanks to new grant funding we are also able to offer a small stipend to instructors who work with us this year for every class they teach (details TBD as we work out the funding structure).
If you want to work with us this year, please fill out our submission form. We can’t wait to hear from you and to share your skills with our community!
