Earth Day Oregon 2024: Celebrate with Forest Park Conservancy!

Forest Park ConservancyUncategorized

While it might feel like we spend all year celebrating Earth Day, this month is the real deal! FPC is participating in Earth Day Oregon this April, and we are excited to celebrate it with our community!

Earth Day Oregon is a collective movement across Oregon to celebrate Earth Day. Nonprofits doing great work across the state, such as FPC, will be celebrating Earth Day together all month long. This is a unified effort to not only celebrate Earth Day, but to highlight all of the awesome work people are doing around the state!

We invite you to join us in celebrating Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park! There are a number of ways you can participate, and we hope that you’ll help support our work, whether directly on the trails or by becoming a monthly member.

Here’s how you can join and support FPC during Earth Day Oregon:

  • Donate:  FPC depends on you, our community, to do the work we do. Becoming a monthly member is easy to set up and provides us with sustainable, and necessary, support to continue our operations. Set up your monthly donation directly via your bank account on our website here: https://forestparkconservancy.org/donate/donate-as-an-individual/
  • Volunteer: We have an awesome community of volunteers who help us conduct our work on and off the trails. The start of spring means it’s restoration season. We will be out in the field removing harmful non-native plants and restoring the local ecosystem in Forest Park. These restoration events will be leading up to one massive work party on April 20th, the Saturday before Earth Day! Click here to see our Events Calendar and find your volunteer work party today!
  • Training: Are you already a volunteer who is looking for an opportunity to take on leadership roles? We will be hosting volunteer crew lead trainings in April for those who are interested in learning more about trails and restoration work as well as becoming more involved in our stewardship efforts. Click here to view our available crew leader trainings.
  • Herb Walk in Forest Park: A student from the National University of Medicine will be joining us on April 20th for an herb walk in Forest Park. We’ll be learning about the medicinal properties of native plants in Forest Park, some of which you might find in your own backyard! This event is free but space is limited, so sign up today!

However you choose to participate, we hope that you will join us to make Earth Day Oregon 2024 one to remember! It takes all of us working together to protect our public lands, and we are grateful to every person in our community who shares this vision with us. See you on the trails!

Thank you to our Earth Day Oregon Business Partners, KEEN, Alaska Airlines, and Roaming Nobles! Both have supported our work for a while now, and we are excited to have their support during this year’s Earth Day festivities!

Additionally, thank you to Go Beyond Racing for their support as an FPC Business Member and for encouraging their race participants to join us on the trails.
