Hiking with Oregon Black Pioneers
Come out for a few hours and submerge yourself in a unique exploration, where you can connect to the outdoors in Portland’s one-of-a-kind urban forest. Find comfort bringing your whole self to the experience.
The Forest Park Conservancy in partnership with Oregon Black Pioneers would like you to join us for a hike with Zachary Stocks, outdoor educator and Executive Director of Oregon Black Pioneers, for a hike on Oregon’s Black history. On August 28th, hikers will get a snapshot of the 400+ year history of people of African descent in Oregon, including explorers, Oregon Trail pioneers, Black exclusion, and the making of a Black community in Portland.
Location : Leif Erikson at Thurman Lane Trailhead. Forest Park, Portland, OR

Gear: Dress for the weather and expect the unexpected! Event Admission: Free.
