Hiking with Love is King: The Maya Angelou Experience

Whether solo, or with family and friends, this Heritage experience is going to engulf you into a rich story of an American poet and civil rights hero!

Maya Angelou (born Marguerite Annie Johnson; April 4th, 1928 – May 28th, 2014) was an African American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist. She published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry, and is credited with a number of plays, movies, and television shows, spanning over 50 years. She received dozens of awards and more than 50 honorary degrees. Angelou is best known for series of autobiographies, focusing on her childhood and early adulthood experiences.

Special Love is King Host: La Toya A. Hampton, a native of Portland, who began performing spoken word in 2008, under the stage name Lady Rose, in memory of her late father, Roosevelt.

Gear: Dress for the weather and expect the unexpected! Event Admission: Free.

Safety Protocol: All participants must register for the event. Masks are required for participation, and everyone must maintain six-foot distance from any other pod, anyone not attending together!
