Early Detection & Rapid Response Training

With more than 80 miles of trail, maintaining the health of Forest Park requires a special group of volunteers consistently monitoring and reporting conditions on the ground. FPC’s Rapid Response Team walks, hikes, and runs the forest, reporting downed trees, invasive species, and other trail problems, throughout the summer and winter.

Now, we need your help during the spring and summer months, monitoring the trails of Forest Park for invasive species and reporting those species back to our partners at Portland Parks & Recreation.

Rapid Responders will be trained on all the basics of the program, be put into teams and given routes to monitor, and by the end of the training be able to identify specific invasive plants we’re currently working to better manage.

  • Where: Zoom, to be emailed to all participants
  • When: Thursday, May 13th, 5:00pm – 7:00pm. It’s possible we may finish slightly early.
  • What:  We will be joined by staff at Portland Parks & Recreation to discuss stewarding Forest Park and the management of invasive species in and outside of Forest Park.

If you have any questions regarding the training, please contact us!
