This is a sign-up for a restoration work party in Forest Park.

When: Friday September 29th, 2023 from 9am to 12pm.

Where: Wildwood & NW 53rd Dr trailhead Please park at the turnoff  located on McNamee, thank you. (Parking is limited, carpooling is encourage!)

What: Restoration events for the summer will primarily focus on spot weeding in previously planted areas; mitigating non-native species which are encroaching on sensitive habitats throughout the park, and prepping for further restoration work in the Fall/Winter.

Preparation: Please wear long pants and closed-toe/closed-heel shoes, and bring a personal water bottle. Dress appropriately for the weather while following these guidelines — don’t forget to check the weather and bring a rain jacket if needed! If you usually carry any emergency medications with you on hikes (e.g. Epi-Pens, inhalers, etc), please bring those too.

We provide: Coffee, snacks, water for refilling your bottle, gloves, tools, training, and fun!

Activity info: From the English Ivy encroaching on the tree canopy, to the Poison Hemlock sprawling off of trails, a human touch is needed to help protect our natural Resources and critical habitats that support life.

Join Forest Park Conservancy’s restoration team and learn about Native plants, why volunteering is a critical component of our Land Care plans, and become involved with other passionate nature lovers helping protect our emerging forests.

Over the next few years we will be reassessing our best practices for the work we are doing, establishing better control methodologies with a focus on training and education, particularly with plant Identification.

This activity takes place outdoors in the open air, and though participants often pass each other on the narrow trail, we have lots of room to spread out. With that in mind, masks and vaccination are not required for this activity. However we require volunteers to stay home when feeling any symptoms of illness (regardless of COVID-19 test result) and fully support participants’ choice to wear a mask if desired.
