Wildwood Welcome Party: Birch Trailhead Work Party
A Celebration of Trees, Trails and Community
The Wildwood Welcome Party is an event focused on bringing together communities from all around Portland for a two-day event full of inclusive activities, where participants can choose from a variety of unique experiences and engage with Forest Park in ways that are fun, and relevant for them. Click here to see everything going on between June 17th and June 18th! All events are free (thanks to support from our friends at Nike!) and open to all ages.
About the Brushing Work Party
Brushing is the maintenance act of removing debris and excess vegetation from the sides of the trails, up to two feet on the uphill sides of trails and one foot on the downhill side. This helps us to improve trail access, stop erosion, and prevent berms that cause water damage.
Join us in helping make Forest Park accessible and protecting the long-term health of the trails!
What: Brushing
Where: Birch Trailhead. Parking is limited. Carpooling encouraged!
Pack plenty of water and dress for all weather conditions. Long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required for your safety. All training, tools and work gloves will be provided. In recent years, Forest Park has seen an uptick in bee activity, if you have any allergies, please bring medications in case of emergency!
Additionally, FPC will continue to abide by the Oregon Health Authority guidelines, and we ask that all participants follow our policy guidelines found here. FPC will make every effort to provide materials to keep participants safe and healthy!
Alternative Transportation Encouraged and Rewarded
Help reduce trailhead congestion! Participants who arrive at the event by carpool, public transit, bike, or on foot will be entered into a raffle for an amazing giveaway from Nike! Plan your Trimet route here or reach out to us with any questions.
