Following the news that PGE has filed an appeal to the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA), FPC has filed a motion, in collaboration with the Forest Park Neighborhood Association and Bird Alliance of Oregon, to intervene to LUBA. PGE’s appeal aims to overturn the Portland City Council’s unanimous 12-0 decision to halt phase 3 of the Harborton Reliability Project, a proposed project that would violate the Forest Park Natural Resource Management Plan and remove nearly five acres of trees, permanently fill two wetlands, and impact two streams. Our organizations will be represented by Crag Law Center, a local law firm and non-profit.
From our Executive Director, Scott Fogarty: “We are disappointed that PGE has chosen to challenge the City Council’s decision. We will continue to stand by our responsibility to protect Forest Park under long-standing policy and to represent the voices of our community.”
At this time, oral arguments are expected to begin in August. We will provide further updates as soon as possible. For now, if you would like to support our organizations, consider donating to our respective groups to help cover our costs.
