Staff

As of September 6th, our previous executive director, Marianne Wilburn, is no longer with FPC. To provide more continuity for the organization, she will be contracting with us during this transition as we begin the search for a new executive director. More details on our search to come in the near future.

Zachary Peal

Haley Blackman (she/her)
Managing Director

Haley is a native Portlander and devoted Forest Park supporter, grounding herself in the forest during runs and hikes. In Haley’s interim role as managing director, she oversees the team, acts as a conduit between board and staff, and is leading the search for the organization’s next executive director. Haley has a bachelor of science in environmental management with a focus in green entrepreneurship, as well as a masters in marriage and family therapy, running a private practice. She’s previously volunteered with FPC in a variety of capacities and is honored to now call herself a team member.

Elsewhere, Haley spends time wrangling her two preschoolers in and around their northeast Portland home.

Zachary Peal

Zachary Peal (he/him/his)
Director of Stewardship & Community Engagement

Zac grew up in Texas but has lived throughout the U.S. working on various campaigns. He graduated from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas with a degree in political science. He's helped campaigns with outreach, volunteer engagement, fundraising, and leadership development. He's an avid runner and is deeply committed to safeguarding our natural resources.

Chie Togo

Chie Togo (she/her/hers)
Operations Manager

Chie brings more than 10 years of experience from non-profit organizations to FPC. Chie oversees FPC's office operations and provides administrative support. She also supports FPC's Stewardship Program.

When you don't see her in the office, you will find her running in Forest Park, hiking trails at Columbia Gorge, practicing yoga or working on her garden at home.

Mikey Brooks (he/him/his)
Communications Manager

Mikey was born in Oregon and lived in the state his whole life. Mikey is currently acting as a communications manager for FPC, working to help manage the organization's outgoing communications. He got his bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon, majoring in environmental science. He highly values science communication and community engagement in his work as he aims to connect people to the importance of the organization's work.

In his free time, he likes to listen to podcasts, cook, and play Dungeons and Dragons.

Josh Rentschler (he/him)                                                                                                                            Development Manager

Josh hails from the state of South Dakota (ooooh heyyy!), but made his way to Portland via our nation’s capital, D.C.. His nonprofit experience includes advocating for LGBTQ+ rights with the Human Rights Campaign, addressing food insecurity with Portland Fruit Tree Project, and three years supporting Willamette Week's year-end fundraising campaign, Give!Guide.

When he isn't raising funds to support Portland's urban oasis, he's most likely biking to the nearest breakfast burrito.

Tyler Ellis (he/him)                                                                                                                            Stewardship & Field Coordinator

A nature enthusiast and creative soul residing in Portland, Oregon, Tyler expresses his deep love for the outdoors with hobbies like hiking, rock climbing, and camping, while currently thriving as a Trails Technician with Forest Park Conservancy.

Beyond the trails, you'll find Tyler gaming, sewing, woodworking, or capturing Oregon's beauty through a camera lens.

Reza Nassib (he/him)                                                                                                                            Operations & Finance Analyst, Cogenerate Encore Fellowship Program

Reza's professional career with Intel Corporation began over 30 years ago, where he worked in software engineering and had various management responsibilities. He will bringing this experience with him to FPC, where he will be assisting with our strategic development and financial management.

Reza retired from Intel in June 2023, which enabled him to spend more time with his granddaughters and family. He loves the outdoors, gardening, and is also very passionate about regular exercise and physical workouts.

Neena Young (she/they)                                                                                                                            Project Zero Intern, Restoration and Stewardship Technician

Neena was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, which has fostered in her a deep love and connection with the outdoors and a desire to give back to the environment. They are ready, and eager, to start a career rooted in environmental justice.

In her free time, you can find her at Powell’s looking for a new book, at Scrap looking for a new craft project, or in the woods discovering new trails.

Mitchell Brooks (he/him)                                                                                                                            Project Zero Intern, Restoration and Stewardship Technician

Mitchell has lived in Oregon his entire life. During his life, he has developed a passion for plants and wildlife, which has led him to work with Forest Park Conservancy. Mitchell hopes to give back to his community through physical labor and hard work out in the field with volunteers.

When he’s not busy on the trails, you can find him working on expanding his garden or learning how to build new things.

Frank Heibel (he/him)                                                                                                                              Office Volunteer

Frank was born in Germany but grew up in Redondo Beach, CA and moved to Oregon for Intel Corporation where he was a Project Manager/Analyst for Fab automation and processor development.  After 27 good years at Intel Frank retired in 2022 and then joined FPC for a 1 year Intel Fellowship to focus on Carbon footprint reductions and stewardship/volunteer improvements. Now, Frank still contributes to FPC as an office volunteer and independent volunteer. 

In his spare time he enjoys activities such as road/mountain cycling, kayaking, hiking, yoga and growing giant sequoias from seeds.

Nick Boswell (he/him)                                                                                                                              Volunteer Trail Monitoring Process & Data Manager

Nick is a trail runner and volunteer who loves Forest Park and is passionate about giving back in any way that he can. In this volunteer role, Nick hopes to play a vital role in preserving the beauty and safety of Forest Park by streamlining trail monitoring processes, improving data flow and ensuring timely updates on trail conditions.
