A Celebration of Trees, Trails, and Community
About the Wildwood Welcome Party
Join us on June 17th and 18th for a fun, free, inclusive summer event focused on bringing together communities from all around Portland to experience and celebrate Portland's backyard oasis, Forest Park.
Never been to Forest Park? This is the perfect event for you! Bring your friends and family along to meet others in your community. There are a variety of unique experiences to choose from. We can't wait to see you on the trails.
This event will be hosted in partnership between the Forest Park Conservancy, Nike, partner organizations, and individuals from the Portland community.
Alternative Transportation Encouraged and Rewarded!
Parking is limited at Forest Park's trailheads. Arriving by alternative transportation will help reduce trailhead congestion and reduce the event’s carbon footprint! Participants who arrive at the event by carpool, public transit, bike, or on foot will be entered into a raffle for an amazing giveaway! Plan your public transit route using TriMet's Trip Planner or reach out to us at info@forestparkconservancy.org with any questions.

About Zine-Making
Join us in partnership with the Independent Publishing Resource Center for a two-hour outdoor writing workshop! Together we'll dive into the form and practice of zine-making, a mode of self-publishing that takes only a piece of folded paper, a pen, and your own creativity.
We'll look at some finished zines from other artists, fold up one of our own, and explore some writing prompts to kick-start our creativity. Will you fill your zine with a personal story, a poem, a comic, or something else entirely? Come hang with us and see where your zine takes you! No experience is necessary. Beginners and people of all ages are encouraged to join, and all materials will be provided.
We'll be meeting at the Holman Lane entrance to Forest Park.

About The Volunteer Events
This is a brushing work party. Trail maintenance efforts often are context-dependent. The nature of a forest, its ecology, climate, foot traffic, and more can all affect what is necessary to keep the forest healthy and maintain it for the use of its patrons. Brushing is one such necessity in Forest Park. Brushing is the maintenance act of removing debris and excess vegetation from the sides of the trails, up to two feet on the uphill sides of trails and one foot on the downhill side, where FPC will be removing invasive species from inside Forest Park and planting native species to help manage the natural health of the forest.
Join us in helping make Forest Park accessible and protecting the long-term health of the trails!
Multiple trailhead options are available. Please email us at info@forestparkconservancy.org if you have any questions about volunteering!
All of the below events are on Friday, June 17th from 5:30 - 7:30. Choose the trailhead that works best for you!

About English Ivy Basket Weaving
Join us for an ivy weaving workshop. Elder Celeste has taught numerous weaving courses and completed multiple artist residencies with the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture.
English ivy is a non-native species that thrive in Forest Park, to the detriment of native plants and trees. While it is necessary that our work involve the removal of ivy to restore Forest Park, ivy weaving workshops allow us to repurpose removed ivy into something beautiful.
We will be meeting at the Lower Macleay Park Pavillon.
