Earlier this month, FPC trained seven new volunteers to join our Forest Park Ambassador program! With that, we now have fifteen Ambassadors who will be hitting the trails from now until National Public Lands Day (9/24).
Forest Park is a massive place at over 5,200 acres and 19 trailheads that are frequented daily. To help keep up with all of these trail users, FPC created the Forest Park Ambassador program. Forest Park Ambassadors serve as a welcoming committee of sorts at Forest Park trailheads. They help other park users who might have questions about trail access, directions, or the Conservancy’s work.
With only two rangers that serve Forest Park, Ambassadors also help to educate park users about topics like public land use, Leave No Trace principles, wildfire prevention, off-leash dogs, and the importance of wildlife habitat. This type of education is important to improve awareness concerning responsible recreation, as well as to encourage other trail users to exercise proper trail etiquette to make Forest Park a more welcoming place!

Thank you to Cotopaxi for donating fanny packs to gear up our Ambassadors on the trails, and to HOKA for sponsoring the 2022 Forest Park Ambassador Program. We also want to thank Saltwood Apartments for hosting the Ambassador training so that we could start trainings in-person once again.
