We are excited to be supporting Portland Parks & Recreation’s (PP&R) new free shuttle service this summer! The Forest Park & Washington Park Shuttle is a new pilot program that will help to connect neighborhoods to trailheads in Forest Park and Washington Park, including the Lower Macleay Trail, Upper Macleay Trail, and Leif Erickson Trailhead at NW Germantown Road. The shuttle will operate on Fridays and Saturdays from June 12th to August 22nd and have regular stops in East, North, and Northeast Portland, making it easier to get to and from these parks this summer.
To help support the shuttle, we will be stationing volunteers, workshops, and more at Forest Park Trailheads as part of our Forest Ambassador and Nature Education programs. Forest Ambassadors are trained volunteers who help engage with the public and welcome new park users into Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park. Meanwhile, our Nature Education Program provides free events to the community in partnership with local instructors and experts.
We won’t be the only ones providing free events this summer, as other local organizations like the Bird Alliance of Oregon, People of Color Outdoors, the Autism Society of Oregon, and more will be providing free events in Forest Park and Washington Park this summer. If you are looking for something to do this summer, there is plenty of fun to be had in the parks this summer!
