Save the Date: The 75th Anniversary of Forest Park & National Public Lands Day

Mikey BrooksUncategorized

On Saturday September 23rd, join FPC, Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R), and community partners for a celebration of the past, present, and future of Forest Park. As we recognize both the 75 years PP&R has stewarded this landscape, and the 30+ years FPC has assisted with that work, we invite our community into the park to honor the generations of Indigenous peoples who have stewarded the land since time immemorial, celebrate current community connections to this special place, and create a more inclusive park, together, for generations to come.

To celebrate, we’re recruiting over 120 volunteers to join us in Forest Park to help us manage non-native ivy in Forest Park and conduct some basic trail maintenance work. Together, we’ll come together to give back to Forest Park so we can continue to enjoy it for another 75 years, and many more after that.

Breakfast will be sponsored again this year by Thomas’ Breads, and coffee, gloves, and training will be provided!

That won’t be all, as part of the festivities there will be community events hosted by PP&R and community partners. We can’t give you all the details just yet, but there will be group hikes and walks, workshops, food, and more!

If you don’t want to miss out, tell your friends and family and mark your calendar for September 23rd! You can click here to volunteer on National Public Lands Day. And keep an eye out on our website and social media platforms for when we announce more details!
