Forest Park ConservancyTrail Recommendations

The Forest Park Conservancy raking plan is complete!

Ahmed, Justin, Ingry, and our 2020 Green Jobs Team spent many long hours clearing the trails to prepare for this wet winter and spring, and our diligent Independent Volunteers did their part by raking about 9 miles (!) of trails on their own.
Although it might not be common practice on your favorite backcountry trails, clearing leaves is so important to the sustainability of Forest Park’s uniquely high-use soft surface trails, and it’s a huge lift to remove them all each year.
We couldn’t have done it without our supporters – thank you!

Our field team is looking forward to taking on some different projects now that leaf clearing is out of the way: Firelane 5 improvements, Wildwood 12-13 stream crossing reconstruction, and various repairs between 19.5-21 are all on the docket for 2021—not to mention brushing, once summer draws a little nearer.

Also, Urban Forestry removed the impassable tree on Wildwood above Cornell on Friday afternoon, so the one-way loop there is open again!
