Wildwood Welcome Party Wrap-Up

Forest Park ConservancyUncategorized

Thank you to those who braved the final rains of spring to join us at the Wildwood Welcome Party.

Forest Park Conservancy teamed up with Nike and many community partners and organizations to provide a number of free public workshops, events, and volunteer opportunities, and you all showed up eager to join us on the trails! Over 120 people showed up to party with us!

We are truly lucky to have Forest Park right here in our backyard and we’re grateful for all of the individuals and groups who work to connect our community to nature.

Some of our events, like the beginner’s birding hike with expert birder Sam Dejarnett of Always Be Birdin’ and the Forest Park Nature Adventure, offered opportunities for people new to Forest Park to get out into the park and explore the trails.

The work the Forest Park Conservancy does would not be possible without the Forest Park community. Our work is largely supported by the more than 2,000 volunteers who join us on the trails each year to help with our restoration and trail maintenance work.

As part of the Wildwood Welcome Party, over 70 volunteers joined us on the trails to brush over miles of trail. That’s over 10% of our annual summer brushing work done in two days! Thank you to all of our volunteers who are helping us keep our trails clear and safe for trail users coming into the party.

We would also like to thank Nike for sponsoring this event and our work, as well as the Oregon Conservation and Recreation Fund for matching their support. And of course, this whole event would not be possible without the support of our community partners and organizations who helped us to put on so many great events.

Our work is also largely funded by our community of members who donate to support our work. During the Wildwood Welcome Party, we raised over $1,500 in donations, so thanks as well to our membership community!

While the party is over, the summer fun doesn’t have to stop! We always have something going on, so keep an eye on our events calendar! From free events and volunteer opportunities to come, you won’t want to miss what we have in store. Our annual Brush-a-Thon is on July 16th, and we’d love to see you there!
