The Appeal Hearing on the Harborton Reliability Project has been Scheduled for April 17th

In March, we filed to appeal the City Hearings Officer’s approval of PGE’s Harborton Reliability Project on the basis that the PGE Proposal does not comply with the Forest Park Natural Resource Management Plan (FPNRMP). There are non-park alternatives to PGE’s proposal, the resulting damage from the proposed project cannot be fully mitigated and PGE’s proposal undermines the Plan’s goal of growing and protecting a self-sustaining ancient forest. The City of Portland Staff Report previously recommended denying PGE’s proposal based on these and other reasons. FPC supports the report’s recommendation.

There will be a City Council meeting that is open to the public where we, and the Forest Park Neighborhood Association, will make our case in defense of Forest Park to overturn the Hearings Officer’s decision. This hearing will be on April 17th at 2pm. You can either attend the meeting via Zoom or in-person at City Hall. Additionally, members of the public can either testify in person or remotely if they would like to weigh in on this case. Instructions for attending the meeting and signing up to testify will be available on Friday, April 11th on City Council’s agenda webpage. We will share more information on how you can participate as it becomes available. For now, you can read the full notice below.

Additionally, this hearing has been scheduled for the same day as our spring fundraiser, so if you want to support our work consider buying a ticket and joining us after the council meeting.
